The Spike Newsletter - February 2004:

Coaches:

The club has lost a couple of coaches/managers this year. If you are interested in coaching or assisting a coach then please contact Derrick asap. In particular a coach for the Men’s B and a manager for the Woman’s A are required. Unfortunately personal circumstances mean Cosmin is working evenings so is unavailable for this season. Alan has decided to take-up the challenge of player coach and James and Derrick will assist him as required. We are pleased Alan wants this role and hope his enthusiasm for Hornby to do well is infectious within the team.

Transfers:

Any players wishing to transfer to a Christchurch club are reminded that they need clearance from Hornby first. This will involve the return of any outstanding gear and repayment of accrued club subsidies for fees and tournament costs etc. Contact Sheri Gatehouse for details of your liability.

Club Nights:

Our first club night for the season will be on Thursday 6th March at 7.00pm at the Hornby High School Gym. This is a night to get together and mix it up with other members of the club.

The second club night will be the following week Thursday 13th March, same time and venue.

Club nights will be followed by 3 weeks of team selections:

Women: Wednesday 19th and 26th March, 2nd April 7.00pm at Hornby High Gym

Men: Thursday 20th and 27th March, 3rd April 7.00pm at Hornby High Gym

Other Business:

The Club is looking for volunteers to help run the Indoor Social Competition on Thursday nights. This involves helping Missi to set up the nets, and being responsible for door-takings throughout the evening. This is a good source of revenue for our club, so if you are interested in helping out it would be greatly appreciated, and well rewarded! Yes we do pay you to do this so anyone heading to nationals may be interested in covering costs!
