The Spike Newsletter - March 2007:

PRESIDENT'S WELCOME

The volleyball season is almost back and it is time to sort out our 2007 teams. I hope that all past players are ready to play again and that you are all out there recruiting promising players for the new season. If you know of any players out there please invite them along. We will endeavour to get all players into the most appropriate teams so that you all get the most out of your volleyball. Please inform us of your intentions for the season and your availability for games and practices before we start selecting teams, women contact Paul and men contact Justin.

Please take note of the starting dates, trials and practices in this newsletter so that you are ready to take the court on each of these dates.

We have had another successful beach season with the work being done by Sheri, Kama, Allan, Kat and then Mike and Amanda post Christmas. Thank you all for your efforts the club is indebted to you because the work done here is definitely the financial backbone to the club and without this we would not only struggle financially but fees would most certainly be double what they are. Please read the information on fees and the expectations about payment. We are expecting that fees will be paid by the beginning of May and anyone who is not financial will not be able to take the court after May 13th.

If you are short of cash then come forward and we could hire you to assist in fundraising, coaching or maybe helping to run the Thursday social competition. If you are under 19 or a tertiary student then you should apply in writing to get the reduced sub.

Congratulations to Enna and Florence who both represented Samoa in the Oceania Volleyball Championships in Samoa during January. They also managed to beat NZ in the final and will be very proud of this accomplishment. Flo sadly has injured herself and is also off to Wellington for the year. Good wishes to all and hopefully we'll be seeing you all at the up coming trials.

Paul Hoffman
President HVC
